The Thai capital of Bangkok is nothing if not a mecca for food enthusiasts. The dining options here seamlessly combine an unequalled street food scene with Michelin star restaurants and everything in between to offer a true sensual overload of delicious options. And nowhere is this more apparent than in the Thong Lor area which is at the heart of the Bangkok dining scene. Indeed, the Thong Lor area is the “it” area of Bangkok dining where a literal who’s who of the restaurant scene competes to open ever better and more spectacular restaurants and dining options.

Indeed it is hard to even divide the Thong Lor dining scene into specific areas. The selection of restaurants are simply to complete and ever present no matter where you are. There are however some patterns. The Japanese restaurants tend to be more frequent in the beginning of soi Thong Lor and in the odd numbered sois. Famous examples includes Uomasa in Thong Lor soi 13 and Nobu close by across soi Thong Lor. Meanwhile, the more contemporary dining options are most prolific in the central Thong Lor area, especially around Thong Lor soi 10 and Thong Lor soi 13. The most spectacular Thong Lor Hotel dining option at the moment can be found at the Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit with its signature steakhouse and international options.

Meanwhile, delicious Thai street food is omni present and blends in with small shop house stalls that serve similar simple yet delicious fare. This is the case both on soi Thong Lor itself and walking down mostly any of the many smaller sois that line the road. A small cart selling fried chicken, fresh fruit, noodles or one of the other delicious specialties is never far away.

Needless to you, no matter what your dining preferences maybe be, in the Thong Lor area you will be spoiled for choice.
